Equinox London already hosts quarterly After Dark events – a place where exercisers get to try out a new class with a guest instructor, DJ set and Mahiki cocktails. While The Wellscene, which hosts pop-up workout events, teams up with some of the best instructors to offer secret classes in amazing London locations. ‘An increasing number of people are looking for an “experience” when they work out – something that’s more than just an exercise class,’ explains The Wellscene founder, Iris Louwerens. ‘We build up our events through the set-up – many are in the dark with black lights or glow-in-the-dark effects, and there’s always food, drinks and lounging afterwards. Think supper club, rather than nightclub, vibe.’

MOVE #1 Use a prowler sled (right)The sled that hides in the corner of modern gyms can be pulled, pushed or dragged. Add weight to make the exercise more targeted for power development, muscular endurance or aerobic training. Sled work involves numerous muscles, and your joints will perform functional movements. Your arms and legs work together to coordinate movement, and keeping a strong core is crucial to keeping your body stable, as your limbs exert force on the sled and training surface. It’s a winner.
MOVE #2 Perform the jack knife
The jack knife is a great exercise that you can carry out anywhere. To do it, lie on your back with your arms extended overhead and your legs straight. As you exhale, bend at your waist while simultaneously raising your legs and arms to meet in the middle. Your legs should be extended and lifted at approximately a 35-45° angle from the floor, and your arms should be extended and parallel to your legs. While inhaling, lower your arms and legs back to the starting position.
