Here, the Forge becomes your exclusive home, where a warm welcome awaits to find the ultimate balance of health, vitality and exquisite living.

The Retreat, designed and led by personal trainer Melissa Scott, has been created to provide the space to experience a balance between physical activity and deep relaxation. A chance to feel the benefits of good nutrition alongside caring, professional instruction with individual welfare billed as top priority.

Melissa has 20 years experience in the health and fitness industry and operates a varied timetable of classes from her equally tranquil base camp at the historic Loudwater Farm, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, as well as locations in Beaconsfield and Penn. Buckinghamshire.


A wonderful community of local enthusiasts has grown, joining Melissa and her elite team of instructors for weekly, small group ‘my trainer' classes, hot yoga, Pilates, and TRX suspension training.

The natural step was to recreate this balance of health and vitality as an ‘away from it all’ experience the perfect setting for a health and fitness retreat, where guests can be inspired through daily classes in outdoor yoga hiking, studio yoga, Pilates, deep stretch and strength conditioning.

Chateau Forge du Roy, located only 40 minutes from Bergerac airport, offers the perfect setting for a health and fitness retreat, where guests can be inspired through daily classes in outdoor yoga hiking, studio yoga, Pilates, deep stretch and strength conditioning.

Melissa and her team, guide guests through active days, beginning with candlelit morning yoga in the private studio set within the 184 acre estate, followed by an invigorating morning yoga hike through the breath-taking Dordogne countryside.

Afternoons focus on precise Pilates and deep stretch sessions to bring strength and length to bodies whilst sauna and massage help ease muscles, Deepen Relaxation and promote a sense of wellbeing.

The number of guests is limited to ensure they feel the full benefit of the instructors' refining guidance throughout the stay and after a day of energising activity, easy evenings are spent by the roaring ancient fireside before finally retiring to luxurious bedrooms.

The Retreat Chef provides locally sourced delicious, clean and nourishing meals to feed both body and soul throughout the stay. Mealtimes are relaxed and informal and the kitchen is available for use with snacks and drinks provided.

The Retreat season runs 4 day 3 night stays from September to May and welcomes both groups and single travellers. All age ranges and abilities are catered for, as the experienced instructors are able to adapt exercises to suit individual needs.
